Software that has been localized properly has the look and feel of a product originally written and designed in the target market. When you want to take your software global and translate it for other markets, different formats for date, currency, and time could clutter the interface. A language that reads from left to right may not work at all. Languages that expand may not fit, making the UI unreadable. Images or icons that are not suitable in your new market could cause clash of culture, to say the least. It’s no small task to go from one language to another and maintain usability as well as functionality. If this seems to be too much to handle, bring us in. Your global users deserve software that meets their language and ease-of-use requirements.

EC Innovations engages industry-leading specialists, and aligns language experts to provide solutions ranging from consultation services, cultural and linguistic assessment, and project management to document and string translation, development support, and testing.

Champions of Quality

Our dedicated software localization team consists of professional software localization engineers, project managers, translators, and quality assurance experts with knowledge and technical skills in the area of vertical industries to deliver a quality product that meets our clients’ specific requirements.

  • Subject-matter experts (SME): Possessing IT and software background with cumulative experience and knowledge in software translation, our SMEs support terminology translation and maintenance in addition to answering technical questions from translators.
  • Qualified translators: Our translators undergo assessment based on our Translation Quality Report (TQR), and we assign translators to the same product line for the same client whenever possible.
  • Experienced editors: With years of experience in software translation, our editors are effective at using our cloud-based Computer-assisted Translation tool to review and make edits in real time to provide feedback and confirmation in the shortest time possible.
  • Rigorous proofreaders: Equipped with background knowledge of related systems and applications, they simulate end users by reviewing the translation with a fresh eye without referencing source content.
  • Quality Assurance reviewer: Our QA team samples 10% to 20% of total translations to independently verify quality and identify potential quality issues.
  • In-country reviewers or third-party reviewers: Often requested by clients to serve as a further guarantee of translation quality.
  • In-country language leader: Work closely with our translator recruitment and management team to build tailored and dedicated translator teams for each client.
  • Multilingual Desktop Publishing team: Ensure that translated documents are compliant and ready to be published in the correct format.

The accuracy and consistency of glossaries is reviewed by subject matter experts. The use of these glossaries by the translation team ensures consistency among the User Interface (UI), online support materials, and other documentation from the product suite.

Professional training for the translation team is performed by subject matter experts on an ongoing basis to ensure our clients benefit from the knowledgeable expertise required to achieve accurate and professional translations.

Our comprehensive software localization service includes culturally aware translation, the formatting of numbers & dates, the adjustment of sort orders, and the adaptation of fonts and images to local norms.

QA testers and engineers work with your development team to ensure that the final, localized UI—including buttons, menus, and dialog boxes—will be seamlessly displayed for the end-user.

An Agile Approach

Users across the globe expect software launches and updates to be carried out quickly, and a long delay from the initial source-language launch can result in significant losses in revenue from both current and potential customers.

EC Innovations has built an end-to-end translation solution - TBMS-LPA - which can be directly integrated with other popular CMS, marketing automation, project management, and online CAT platforms for today’s software brands. It is designed to simplify and streamline translation by automatically processing global digital content, centralizing localization management and reducing manual processes to save time and costs without compromising quality. EC Innovations’ services can also provide updated content translations into more than 120 languages on schedule and within budget to concurrently execute multiple launches across countries. Cloud-Based CAT System

Language assets are valuable in increasing accuracy, maximizing translation consistency between different content type and project components, and in turn, reduces human error and preserves language assets for future use. Using our cloud-based Terminology Management System, our industry subject matter experts (SMEs) suggest translations for all terms while our clients’ terminology experts can approve the translations. The translated terms can be automatically displayed and easily selected, reviewed, and confirmed online by translators, editors, proofreaders, and QA reviewers. Furthermore, translations of terms can be synchronized between the terminology database and the translation memory (TM) database - if there is any update to the terminology database, such as the addition of new terms or a change to a translation using existing terms, the system will automatically check terms against translations in the TM and display all differences, the administrator only needs to click one button to synchronize terminology translations in the TM, with an option for one-to-one confirmation.

App Store Optimization

For new users in the target market to find your app, you need to update the information in the app stores (iTunes Store and Google Play) as well. This means the following:

  • App Description is the most important section. Even if your app has been localized well, few speakers of the target languages will download it if they don’t know what it is or what they can expect. Visitors will draw conclusions on the quality of your localization based on the language used here.
  • Simultaneous Launch update visitors on the latest updates. The nature of this is that the text changes often, and EC Innovations TBMS-LPA enables simultaneous and iterative localization by automatically fetching, processing, and localizing updated content.
  • Keywords help users find your app by searching the store. Keyword translation is not only about translating, but also involves researching and localizing for a target location. Localization of keywords requires careful research and knowledge for each target market.
  • Rich Media Localization, Visitors to your app listing will not only see text, but also see screenshots, promotional images, and videos. These should also be localized to persuade them to download the app. EC Innovations also offers audio and video localization services.

Localization Testing

Context errors mainly arise due to a lack of GUI reference, and comprehensive testing of localized software projects is necessary. EC Innovations’ multilingual testing services focus on all areas affected by localization, including testing and fixing linguistic, cosmetic, and function problems. We provide testers for both source and localized products so that they can review translations in context, with the intended application function, audience, and user environment in mind. They screen for issues such as untranslated text, incorrect translations, incomplete UI display, dysfunctions, and mistakes in date, time, and calendar formats, in addition to errors in currency and measurement conversions. Our testing team will undergo steps as follows:

  • 1. Externalize all strings
  • 2. Use unique String IDs
  • 3. Identify and mark externalized strings which should not be translated
  • 4. Ensure there is no string concatenation
  • 5. Run a trial pseudo localization
  • 6. Supply content information on strings—this helps with correct translation/localization
  • 7. Control segment length to match the component properties
  • 8. Test target fonts
  • 9. Test right-to-left and left-to-right languages
  • 10. Ensure it is double-byte enabled

Confidentiality & Security

Being aware of the importance of confidentiality in the Software & IT industry, we are fully committed to ensuring the safety, confidentiality, and integrity of your documents and any information communicated to us. Strict procedures and guidelines are followed to safeguard our project documents throughout the entire translation process and ensure our clients’ peace of mind. Project managers will monitor each translator’s work to ensure full compliance with the relevant security procedures.
