Terminology Management

It's great what tech can help us do. Take EC Link for instance. It lets us improve translation consistency between different content types, while reducing human error and retaining language assets for future use. All in one seamless flow: our industry subject-matter-experts suggest translations for all terms, our clients’ terminology experts can then approve these translations. Then the translated terms are automatically displayed, selected and confirmed online by our panel of linguists and QA reviewers. With one click of a button the translated terminology can easily be synchronized between the terminology database and the translation memory (TM) database. As new terms and changes emerge, they are automatically referenced against established terminology in the database, with every update displayed for review.

Localization Testing

Context errors can easily arise from a lack of GUI reference. At EC Innovations our multilingual testing services addresses this problem holistically. All localization issues, from linguistic and cosmetic concerns to functional problems, are considered in this workflow step - especially the way they can interact with one another.

We offer testers for both source and localized products, so that translations are reviewed in context with the intended application function, audience, and user environment. Our testers pick up issues such as untranslated text, poor syntax, incomplete UI displays, dysfunctions, and errors in date, time, and calendar formats, not to mention currency and measurement conversions.

It's worth taking a look at the process our testing team always follows:

1. Externalize all strings
2. Develop and apply unique String IDs
3. Identify and mark externalized strings which should not be translated
4. Ensure there is no string concatenation
5. Run a trial pseudo localization
6. Supply content information on strings—this helps with correct translation/localization
7. Control segment length to match the component properties
8. Test target fonts
9. Test right-to-left and left-to-right languages
10. Ensure everything is double-byte enabled throughout
